Description
Curated by Vidhya Gnana Gouresan, this will be a historic art exhibition, entitled ‘The Prized Collection: Modern Masters in Singapore’, which officially opens on 1 August 2011 at the Black Earth Art Musuem, situated at 352B Joo Chiat Road, Singapore.
Presented by The Gallery of Gnani Arts at the Black Earth Art Museum, this will be a monumental and historic exhibition of sculptures and paintings by selected modern masters of South India, most of whom are winners of the Indian National Award. The highlight of the exhibition is that, for the first time in Singapore, five of the participating masters will be present, all at once, at the official opening preview of the exhibition on 1 August 2011, as part of the ‘Visiting Masters’ programme initiated by The Gallery of Gnani Arts. The five masters are Vidyasankar Sthapathy, C. Dakshinamoorthy, Alphonso Doss, Pon Ragunathan and S.K. Rajavelu. This exceptional and extensive showcase in the three-storey museum will present sculptures, sculptural installations, paintings and drawings. Together with the masters, Singapore’s leading artists such as S. Namasivayam, S. Chandrasekharan and P. Gnana will also be participating in the exhibition.
